Healthy Teen Website
Throughout the next several units, you will be building a website designed to help teenage girls know about how their bodies work and what they can do to promote the long-term health of their bodies.
You will create a new page (or multiple pages) for three systems of the body that we study. For each system you should:
- Highlight the important anatomical and physiological features of that system
- Explain why keeping that system is important to the overall health of the body
- Point out unique aspects of that system that teenage girls should be concerned about
- Describe what lifestyle choices teenage girls can make to keep that system healthy
- Describe at least two disorders/diseases that can result if something goes wrong with this system - try to focus on problems that are relevant to teenage girls
Remember your audience as you create your website. Your website should be:
- Engaging - would you want to read your website?
- Interesting - what information does a teenage girl want to know about?
- Visual - too much text will scare readers away
- Personal - add some personal experiences, interviews, etc. to your website
- Creative - have fun with this project!
Your first assignment will be to make a home page for your website. Introduce the theme of your website - promoting a healthy mind and body. Include some general information about why being healthy is important and how lifestyle choices can affect a woman's body.
By the end of the semester, you will create pages for 3 of the following body systems (you choose which three!):
- Muscles and Bones
- Digestive
- Immune
- Circulatory
- Respiratory
- Endocrine
- Excretory
- Reproductive
- Nervous
As always, be careful not to plagiarize! Give credit to any photos, videos, information, stories, etc. that you find online.
